Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition has chapters inside Central California Women’s Facility (CCWF) and California Institute for Women (CIW)! These chapters have over 600 members inside these institutions, and that list is growing daily as we go inside to do programming and support events! Our inside members (currently incarcerated members) receive support through one-on-one advocacy. They can be connected to any resources we have, like, for example, mental health support not being conducted by CDCR. Our inside members also have access to our political education mailers, which are a resource to folks inside and provide a flow of educational materials that previously incarcerated members assist in creating and reviewing to ensure it is culturally appropriate and valuable to our inside members. Members also have a warm hand-off after reentry to join a chapter in the community during reentry and access to the reentry resources we have.
All of our work on the outside in policy and organizing is informed by our members, including our incarcerated members. We thank our inside members for their vulnerability and insight in sharing their experiences to ensure we push policies they want to see.
