Emily is a long-time advocate for women, girls, and trans folks and a firm believer in the transformative power and collective wisdom of community. Since joining the team in 2021, they have been in Sacramento, advocating for policies that recognize our shared humanity and bring greater support to those who have been most harmed by the many systems that perpetuate suffering.
Emily works with the Sister Warriors community to end both the criminalization of survivors and the systemic abuse and violence perpetuated inside California’s women’s prisons. Through legislation, inside programming, and participatory defense, they hope to empower community members to participate in the political process, confidently navigate California’s court systems, and fight for policy that will bring us all one step closer to freedom.
