Inside Prisons
Leadership & Healing
Our Leadership Development Program at both prisons is a 12-week program developed and facilitated by people with lived experience inside prisons in California. The program focused on examining one’s place in the community, honing leadership skills, creating community-based solutions, and making commitments to bettering one’s own community.
At both CIW and CCWF, we also offer
- Healing circles
- Workshops and training sessions
- Inside Ambassador leadership opportunities
- Peer mentorship
- Political Education mailers (Warrior Wisdom) exploring conditions impacting our community, current events, and the values of our Freedom Charter
At CIW we also offer a book club, a curated lending library, and a dedicated healing space for community gathering.
At CCWF we offer programming to community members living inside or returning from segregated housing units.
Member support:
We offer support to incarcerated community members and survivors of staff abuse, including support letters, referrals to survivor resources, board and court support, and reentry navigation. We can also offer community-based case advocacy through our Participatory Defense Hub.
Warrior Wisdom: Political Education
Warrior Wisdom is our political education newsletter sent directly to members inside. Each issue explores prison conditions, current events, and the values of our Freedom Charter.
It’s a tool for connection and empowerment—helping build knowledge, spark conversation, and strengthen our movement from the inside out.
One-on-One Support
We offer support to incarcerated members and survivors of staff abuse, including:
- Letters of support
- Referrals to resources and reentry support
- Community-based case advocacy through our Participatory Defense Hub
